What to say on camera
Most people freeze because they think they need a script. You don't. You need one sentence to start and one idea to finish.
Start with one of these
- "Here's something I get asked all the time."
- "I made a mistake last week, and here's what happened."
- "Three things I'd tell anyone starting out in [your thing]."
- "This is what [a price / a job / a day] really looks like."
- "Nobody tells you this about [your thing]."
Pick one. Say it. Keep going.
Then say one thing
Not five. One. A tip, a story, a before and after, an answer to a question a customer asked. If you notice yourself adding "and also", stop and save it for the next video.
How long
Twenty to forty seconds of talking is plenty. You can talk for three minutes and ask Cutleap to find the best part.
When you mess up
Don't stop. Pause, say the line again, carry on. Cutleap takes the good take and cuts the restart. Messing up is part of the process, not a reason to start over.
Look at the lens
Not at yourself on the screen. Prop the phone at eye level, near a window, and talk to it like a friend who asked you a question.
Then upload it
Send the clip to Cutleap and say what you'd like. The saying part is yours. The rest is ours.
